How often should my child visit the dentist?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions from parents of little ones. Establishing a routine for your child’s dental care is very important in making sure their teeth stay healthy and sugar bug free!
By age one, we start to see children for their first dental visit and continue to see them every 6 months for regular check-ups. During routine visits, the dentist is able to examine the child and create a specialized plan of care – this could mean more frequent visits with the doctor to keep an eye on suspicious areas and applying fluoride treatments, scheduling procedures to treat cavities or simply planning to see the child for their routine visit in 6 months (just like adults!). Frequent visits allow children (and parents) the chance to build up their comfort level with the dental office and see how fun and stress-free going to the dentist can be!
